Edmund Spenser was an English poet best known for The Faerie Queene, an epic poem and fantastical allegory celebrating the Tudor dynasty and Elizabeth I. He is often considered one of the greatest poets in the English language.
He is supposed to have lodged at 1, Amery Street in Alton for a time. A plaque sits above the door that reads: ‘Here lived Edmund Spenser Poet – 1590’.
We are so lucky to have a great House System at Eggar’s as it enables you to shine outside the classroom. Last year Spenser pupils did an amazing job at shining IN the classroom and home-learning as on average we accumulated more house points per pupil. We can easily win the cup if we get behind the competitions.
I am looking forward to leading Spenser through this year’s challenges and competitions. I know Spenser is an enthusiastic house who deserve to win the House Cup! The way we will achieve this is by a commitment to getting involved and taking part, which I will help you to do. This year lets give it all we’ve got and, through our endeavours, we will win!

Do the Maths! Year 10 students Libby, Evie, Jess and Cali took up the Alton School Maths Challenge this week. Working with four future Eggar's students from Bentley School, they tackled three rounds of very difficult problem-solving maths. They were fantastic ambassadors https://t.co/onVvrb3qcJ 10:18 PM - 25 Jun 2022

It's Fri-YAY and we're celebrating Matt D and his performance at the National Schools Biathle last weekend. He was placed 2nd in the Year 7 Boys race. (Biathle is an event that can involve a runswimrun course, or simply a swimrun course). #SoundsExhausting #GoMattGo https://t.co/pIe7RXQUpa 6:00 PM - 24 Jun 2022
