At Eggar’s, we believe that every student is unique, and our goal is to support them in reaching their full potential. The Individual Needs Department plays a key role in helping both students and staff develop strategies to overcome any barriers that may hinder progress.
While most of our students follow a traditional curriculum, we understand that some learners require a more tailored approach. For these students, we offer a personalised curriculum that better suits their individual needs, interests, and abilities.
Where appropriate, we may provide additional support to students, and in such cases, parents will be informed.
Support and Interventions:
- Additional Support: If your child requires extra help, we offer a range of interventions and subject-specific support, which will be discussed with you.
- Exam Access Arrangements: As your child approaches Key Stage 4, we will assess if any exam access arrangements are necessary. These will be applied in line with Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) regulations.
Resourced Provision for Dyslexia:
Eggar’s is one of just six schools in the county offering specialist provision for students with dyslexia. Our provision supports a total of 10 students across all five-year groups. The support includes:
- Intensive, multi-sensory lessons: Students receive one-to-one or very small group lessons within our department.
- Additional Support: Teaching assistants provide help in some core lessons to ensure students can fully engage with the curriculum.
- Full Integration: These students are fully integrated into the life of the school, participating in all aspects of school activities.
Through these provisions, we strive to ensure that all students at Eggar’s can thrive academically and socially, regardless of their individual learning needs.
