Eggar’s School has worked closely with the Travel Planning Team at Hampshire County Council to ensure we encourage safer and more sustainable modes of travel to school for our students, families, staff and visitors to the school site.
We welcome the following modes of transport to school including:
- Walking
- Scooting – storage available on site
- Cycling – Sheltered storage available for bicycles
- Public & School Bus services. Public buses include No 64 / 65 / 38 / 664, details of which can be found at https://www.stagecoachbus.com/
- Park & Stride – Parking areas at Anstey Park & 13 spaces at Barleyfields. Parents are reminded that the “Park & Stride” operates between the hours of 08:15-08:45 and 14:15-14:45 each school day when there are no vehicles allowed to move on site apart from school buses.
- Trains into Alton Railway Station. Alton is on the mainline, 60/90 minutes from London Waterloo, or 40 minutes from Woking.
Please see http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations_destinations/AON.aspx for further details.
Once at the train station, exit the platform and, with the platform directly behind you, walk up to the main road passing Waitrose Supermarket on your right. Turn right at the main road and walk along that road. The school is on the other side of the road about 10 to 15-minute casual walk from the train station and just after the playing fields. There is a controlled crossing outside the school. Alternatively, there is a local taxi firm located just outside the main entrance of the train station.
For visitors that need to arrive by car, accessible parking is available on site
