In-Year Admissions – Join us at anytime
If your child needs to join us outside of the normal admissions round, you can apply for an In-Year Admission.
You can apply if:
- You are moving house, and your child cannot continue at their current school.
- Your child has been home-schooled, and you now want them to attend a mainstream school.
- Your child is currently at another school, but you wish to transfer them to Eggars.
When to apply
You can apply for an in-year school place for your child at any time. Applications are processed in the order received and offers are made as soon as a place becomes available. We always act in the best interests of the child. Once a place is allocated and the family confirms the move, the child is expected to start as soon as possible to ensure continuity of education. For members of the Armed Services and Crown Servants relocating to the area, applications can be made up to four months in advance.

Please do not withdraw your child from their current school until you have secured a place elsewhere.
Additional requirements
The person applying must have parental responsibility for the child. If unsure, include a covering letter explaining your situation; please also attach/upload two proofs of residency.
If applicable, include supporting documents (e.g., medical, or social reasons for school transfer).
What happens next?
- Processing Time: We aim to process applications and notify you within 15 school days.
- Accepting a Place: If your child is offered a place, you must accept it within two weeks, or the offer may be withdrawn.
- Starting at Eggars: Your child will usually start within 10 school days of accepting the place. If a delay is needed, the longest deferral is normally until the next half term.
If we cannot offer a place
- Your child will be added to our waiting list, ranked according to our Admissions Policy.
- Positions on the list may move up or down depending on new applicants with higher priority.
- Waiting lists reset at the end of each academic year, so if you still want a place the following year, you will need to reapply.
