Alton Art Society 90th Annual Exhibition

Mae's work voted best in show...

The Alton Art Society was formed in 1923 to promote the practice of the creative arts and it has always encouraged the next generation of artists. This year was the society’s 90th exhibition and alongside the main event was a fantastic children's exhibition with entries from many of the local pre, primary and secondary schools.

Exhibits included paintings in watercolour, oil, acrylic, pastel, ink and mixed media, textiles, ceramics and glass. Our students excelled with some amazing pop art, clay models and paintings, both of music stars and self-portraits.

The winners were:

Years 7-8 category:
• 1st - Adam G
• 2nd - Gregor W
• 3rd  - Hannah T

Year 9-11 category:
• 1st - Sophia W
• 2nd - Jess F
• 3rd - Charlie T

For the fifth year there was a public vote for the best work in the children’s exhibition, named in honour of former chairman John Hearn. There were 206 votes cast and the winner was Mae W. for her 'girl sitting on a wall'.

Check out the quality of their work here! In the photo above we have Gregor, Mae and Charlie. In the picture below we have Adam, Sophia and Hannah.
