Talking 'geography' out of the classroom ...
This week has seen day trips to Portsmouth for our Year 11 geography students, where sea defences and regeneration projects were just some of the topics of conversation.
The group looked at the new sea defences that are being constructed to prevent future flooding. They then walked through different areas of Gunwharf Quays as it is the topic of the case study for their exam, completing some fieldwork skills as they went.
They finished by looking at comparative areas of Portsmouth to see how places change further away from regeneration projects. They were able to visit and talk about the wonderful integrated transport system at The Hard.
It was brilliant being able to take the Year 11s on their first field trip and spend time talking 'geography' out of the classroom.
