Sport of the week: It was (not the weather for) cricket.
The less than summery weather on Thursday generated the hashtag of the week from the PE Dept: #wearsomelayers.
Despite the cold conditions, our Year 7 boys took on Salesian College in Farnborough. This was their first 11-a-side game since they won the Hampshire Lord Taverners indoor 8-a-side tournament last month. Eggar’s batted first and scored an impressive 118 runs. Salesian chased hard but fell short by 46 runs.
Our Year 7/8 girls played Eggar’s first ever under 13 girls cricket fixture this week, welcoming visitors Perins to Holybourne. It was terrific to see so many girls on both teams playing for the first time. Strong bowling made the difference between the two sides and Eggar’s won by an encouraging 21 run margin.
