Mock Trial Winners

Trial and no error. Eggar’s win in Court

A team of 11 students in Years 8 and 9 took part in the Guildford Magistrates’ Mock Trial competition on Saturday 11 March.  The students competed against five other schools from the Surrey/Hampshire borders in a mock scenario that tested their analytical skills and strength of argument, acting skills and ability to think on their feet under pressure.  Their roles included lawyers, magistrates, witnesses, the defendant, court usher and legal advisor.  The Eggar’s team were fantastic in both  the prosecution and defence roles winning the competition and qualifying for the regional heats in Kent.  As part of the day’s experience the students had a tour of the cells, took part in an interview panel and met with local charity and youth organisers.  Pictured in the photo with Mr Sullivan and Miss Cox, in the back row from left to right are Elliot Crabb, Toby Morris, Nicholas Tate, Archie Stevens and Zac Salczynski.

In the front row is Michael Stokes, Reece Delamont, Ewan McLeod, David Gee, Archie Harrison and Ellie Lamport.
