Year 8s excel!
Mrs Chads took 12 fabulous students to the Hampshire Book Awards at Applemore College on July 3. The Award is given to works of children's literature published in paperback during the previous year.
Selected Year 8 students from schools across Hampshire attended the Final in order to discuss and vote for the winning book.
Each had to read the six novels which made up the shortlist:
- Satellite by Nick Lake
- Scarecrow by Danny Weston
- Things a Bright Girl Can Do by Sally Nicholls
- The Extinction Trials by S M Wilson
- Shell by Paula Rawsthorne
- Refugee by Alan Gratz
Our students spoke about them eloquently, behaved impeccably and some even won the HBA quiz!
Congratulations to: Arnya, Oscar Jemimah, Danielle, Joe, Will, Amala, Alice, Chloe, Tom, Emily and Thea.
