New addition to the school’s sports facilities
We’re really excited to share the news that EHDC has just approved a state of the art synthetic pitch at Eggar’s! It will have floodlights for evening use and of course it will be available for weekend sport and training sessions. Users will also have access to the school’s changing and shower facilities.
We have been working in partnership with Alton Hockey Club, to expand the provision for hockey both at the school and within the locality. The Club held a 2nd fund-raising event at the School this month and their cumulative funds have now reached an impressive £50,000! We have also raised significant funds towards the project and we are in the process of considering additional funding options and submitting bids The total estimated cost of the pitch is £530,000.
There have been many expressions of interest from the community to use the facility, including Alton College and many other local clubs, such as Alton Football Club, Alton Rugby Club, Holybourne Cricket Club and the Alton & District Sports Council.
Head Teacher Mr Sullivan was delighted:
‘The pitch will be a fantastic asset for the whole community, providing all year round sporting facilities and curriculum enhancing opportunities. It will support engagement in sport, not only in our own school community, which includes our visiting Primary Schools, but will deliver a complete local package for all sports and for all abilities’.
