Eggar's Top Maths students take on the challenge.
Big congratulations to all the students who participated in the UKMT Maths Challenge. Eggar's School entered 103 students and we managed to achieve 6 Gold, 10 Silver, and 20 Bronze awards. We are proud to say that six of our students have made it to the next round, with two students from each year group: Year 11 - Nate I and Katherine B, Year 10 - Harry A and Finlay J, and Year 9 - Elliott Y and Matthew D. We wish them the best of luck as they move on to the next round on March 21st. We would like to thank Mr Parkes for his efforts in organising our participation in the event.
The UK Maths Challenge is an excellent way to encourage mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency, all of which help students to think more critically and analytically. To clarify, all students who participated in the Challenge received a certificate of participation. Students who are in the top 50% of participants received either a bronze, silver, or gold certificate. The follow-on round is a 60-minute, multiple-choice Challenge consisting of 25 problems.
