KS3 Progress Review Guide

All Progress Reviews will share your child's attendance for the year and behaviour information.

The 'Progress' column indicates whether your child is on, above or below track in their most recent assessment compared to their starting point.

The 'Assessment %' is the percentage your child achieved in their most recent subject assessment. For some subjects such as DT, Drama and Music, this % may also include practically assessed elements in addition to summative assessments. This reflects how students will be assessed in KS4 examinations for these subjects.

The 'Cohort Average %' is the average percentage achieved by students in the year group in the most recent subject assessment.

The ‘Minimum Expected Grade’ is the grade that your child should meet or exceed, based on prior achievement data.

The 'Eggar's Target' is the grade that we aspire for your child to meet or exceed in their KS4 examinations, based on prior achievement data. This target is reviewed annually and may be adjusted.

The ‘AtL (Effort and Attitude to Learning)' reflects the extent to which your child has achieved the criteria below:

  • Demonstrating ‘The Eggar’s Way’ by being ‘Ready, Respectful and Responsible’.
  • Quality of work is in line with their ability.
  • Completing Home Learning on time and to the best of their ability.
  • Focus, engagement and willingness to contribute to lessons.

Effort and Attitude to Learning (AtL) scale:

  1. Outstanding and exceptionally consistent effort and attitude to learning.
  2. Good effort and attitude to learning.
  3. Inconsistent effort and attitude to learning, which may adversely affect achievement.
  4. Unsatisfactory effort and attitude to learning, which may have a significant impact on achievement.

Where a grade 3 or 4 has been awarded for AtL, the teacher will indicate the area your child needs to improve to raise this grade using the codes listed below in the 'AtL Reason' column. If your child has been awarded a 1 or 2 for AtL, the ‘AtL Reason’ column will display 'NA'.

A – Attendance, B – Behaviour for Learning, C – Classwork, D – Home Learning, E – Engagement.

If you have any general questions about the report, please contact your child's tutor or Head of School.
