Our House System
All students are assigned a house in Year 7 and remain in this house until they leave in Year 11. They earn house points through behaviour, academics and competing in inter-house events including sport days and various non-athletic competitions.

Austen House is named after the much loved novelist, Jane Austen, who lived in Chawton from 1809 - 1817.
Introducing Mr Ion
As the new Head of Austen House, Mr Ion is excited to take part in activities and events to win points for his House and is encouraging all members of the Austen House community to get involved and show their spirit. Austen last won the cup in 2024 and Mr Ion is determined to show his fighting spirit to regain the cup this year.

Monty House is named after Field Marshall Montgomery, who was nicknamed 'Monty' and after an illustrious army career lived at Islington Mill until 1976
Head of House - Miss Tomkinson

Miss Tomkinson is the Head of Monty House and has been since 2015. She is extremely dedicated to earning House Points for her house, taking part in activities such as skydiving, abseiling down the Spinnaker tower and volunteering to be sponged by students all in the name of winning the House Cup.
Spenser House is named after a poet often considered one of the greatest in the English Language, who lodged in Alton in 1590.
Head of House - Mrs Chads

Mrs Chads has been the Head of Spenser House since 2023. After missing out on the cup for 12 years, Mrs Chads finally clinched a spectacular victory this year and Spenser are the current holders of the cup. It is with grit and determination that Spenser House are hoping to fight off their rivals again to retain the cup for another year.
