A small school with a big heart where every child is known and valued.
It is a pleasure to lead Eggar’s School and I love coming to work every day. I have high expectations of every student because I care about their futures and believe in their potential.
We are a friendly and vibrant school in the heart of Hampshire. Set in a magnificent 38-acre site, the campus is an impressive environment where students can focus on their learning and thrive in all aspects of school life. Holding firmly to our school values of Belong, Aspire, Achieve, we are committed to ensuring that every child is able to experience success at Eggar’s, whatever success looks like for them as individuals.
Relationships are strong between staff and students, creating a happy community of curious learners inspired to discover, to explore and to grow. We believe that classrooms should be calm and purposeful and that students should be free to learn without distraction.
Our reputation is well established for academic excellence, sporting prowess and exceptional creativity in the visual and performing arts.
The transition from primary to secondary school is made much easier by the warm, caring and supportive atmosphere at Eggar’s. As early as Years 4 and 5 with our bespoke Discover Programme, we love getting to know our future students and helping them feel at home in a place where they will be nurtured to grow and succeed.
As Ofsted commented, “Students enjoy being at school. They are happy, and they know that they will be welcomed every day and to each lesson.” We are very proud of the team of highly specialist teachers at Eggar’s who are “experts in their field and enthuse students to want to learn more” (Ofsted 2024). We inspire leaders of the future through extensive ambassador and student leadership opportunities.
We are ambitious and aspirational for all students, expecting them to leave us with exceptional outcomes, prepared for their next steps in education or employment. That is why we pay close attention to shaping our students’ characters and to their intellectual development.
We are particularly proud of our unique extracurricular offering, the Eggar’s Experience, where students engage in a range of clubs, events, trips and visits beyond the classroom to build their confidence, make friends, develop new skills and widen their horizons. Our House system is an integral part of the school and provides many memorable moments of fun and healthy competition where students collaborate across year groups to battle it out for the prestigious House Cup!
