The transition from primary to secondary school is an exciting milestone

At Eggar’s we are committed to making the experience as smooth, positive, and reassuring as possible. Our warm, caring, and supportive environment helps students settle quickly, build confidence, and feel part of the school community from the very beginning.

As a smaller school, we are able to get to know every student as an individual. This allows us to provide personalised support, strong pastoral care, and meaningful relationships between students and staff. Our welcoming and engaging community encourages students to thrive both academically and personally, while developing friendships and a strong sense of belonging.

Our dedicated transition team works closely with families and local primary schools throughout the transition process. Through regular communication, transition visits, induction events, and tailored support, we ensure that every child feels prepared, supported, and excited about starting their journey at Eggar’s.

Key Staff

As soon as we hear that you have been allocated a space in March prior to entry in the September, we invite you to join us at a welcome event where we will share with you the transition journey and answer any questions you might have about the process.

We want every new member of the Eggar's family to feel confident and ready for their first day with us. To ensure this, we create a wide range of opportunities for your children to spend time at Eggar's getting to know the staff, the site and other students. We do this through our after school Discover Eggar's events, our 'Getting to Know You' days (specifically for students where 5 or fewer members of their school are joining Eggar's), our Transition Day and our Discover Eggar's Summer camp. 

In Year Transition - Joining Eggar's during the School Year

In addition, we create bespoke transition packages for students who would benefit from enhanced transition with a greater number of opportunities to visit the school.

These meetings provide an opportunity to:

• Visit the school
• Meet the Head of Year for the relevant year group
• Ask questions and discuss support for settling in
