Alan Scarrott(1967)

What have you done since leaving Eggar’s?
After 3 years at Borough Road College, situated in Isleworth, Middlesex, and qualifying as a Teacher of Maths and Chemistry, I taught in a range of schools in London, Lincolnshire, Cyprus (working in a High School for mainly children of Services Personnel stationed on the island and acting as Advisory Teacher for computer-based education for all HM Government sponsored schools on the island), Devon and finally Lancashire progressing to Head of Department of Mathematics and I.T. I finally retired in 2007 after suffering heart problems and being granted early retirement. Since then I have remained healthy and active following major heart surgery at the end of 2007.

Being a member of the group of students who took part in a successful attempt to break the world record for the longest non-stop football match.
One piece of advice to give to a current student?
NEVER waste a minute of time in the classroom, in the gym or on the playing field. Give it ALL you've got to do the very best that YOU can. You may not be the top of any activity but if you genuinely know that you have done as well as you can then no-one can criticise you. ALWAYS GO FOR IT!
