The Brilliant Club

Brilliant results from our amazing Year 9 students

Over the Spring term, twelve of our Year 9 students have participated in The Scholars Programme, studying a course in digital culture. The Programme is run by The Brilliant Club, an organisation dedicated to encouraging students to aspire to study at the top universities in the country. The students attended a weekly series of small group tutorials with Dr Lian Patston of Southampton University looking at how we can better understand digital relationships and online behaviours. The course culminated in a 2000-word essay assignment for which they were graded in the manner of a university degree.

We are delighted to announce that all students achieved either a first class or 2:1 result - the equivalent of high A-level grades and a phenomenal achievement for students who have only just entered Key Stage 4.

In normal times, the students would have attended a graduation event at a top UK university, but sadly current restrictions have prevented that this year. Instead, The Brilliant Club organised an online event hosted by the University of Warwick which we attended at a celebration in school.

Hopefully, we'll be able to take the students to visit a 'real' university campus in the coming year to give them a further flavour of undergraduate life.
