Senior Citizens’ Christmas party

A perfect way to end the term!

We were delighted to welcome 110 of Alton’s Senior Citizens to our annual Christmas party.  The event started with Years 7 and 8 Charity Representatives decorating each of the tables which were then judged by Mrs Kinteh.

Our Health & Social Care students, led by Miss Bailes, greeted our guests before students served a  traditional Christmas turkey lunch with all the trimmings. Compliments go to Rosemary Lock and our catering department.

The afternoon continued with well-known festive songs with our compère Mrs Kennard and The Twelve Days of Christmas performed by Year 11 students.  Mince pies (kindly donated by Aldi) and tea were served by the PTA before an amazing raffle draw took place. Prizes had been very kindly donated by the Garthowen Garden Centre, Avenue Nursery, Tesco Store Bordon and Eggar’s Staff.

Also thanks to Teaching Assistants Mrs Cox and Mrs King and our fabulous site team for their help during the afternoon. We must also mention Top Marks for providing complementary travel.

The afternoon was once again a huge success and we had many messages of praise for our students from our guests including:

Thank you most sincerely for a wonderful time at yesterday’s Christmas party.  The food was excellent and everything was of a very high standard.  BUT to me the highlight was the hilarious rendition of ‘the twelve days of Christmas’.  I have been attending school Christmas festivities for 50 years and this was by far the best I have ever seen. The slick production, which is difficult when comedy is a culture of things, was of a high standard.  Laughing ‘til I cried is not something I do at all, but yesterday's students managed it.  The enthusiasm and abandon with which they proceeded was wonderful to see.

May I wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a successful New Year."
