DofE success in summer assessed expedition
Three teams of Year 9 and 10 students successfully completed their Bronze assessed Duke of Edinburgh expedition on a predictably wet weekend at the end of June!
The 20 students navigated through torrential rain on Saturday afternoon to the specified camp site and all within their allotted time. The support and camaraderie within the teams was excellent. Together they still had the energy to cook themselves a meal on Saturday night and indulge in a “University Challenge” style quiz, packed like sardines in the group shelter, while it rained again!
Sunday morning saw breakfast cooked and a textbook perfect decamp. Excellent navigation and a fast pace ensured the expedition was completed by all 20 students and the assessors were very complimentary regarding their capabilities. They were especially pleased to note that emergency rations had been saved for an emergency and had not made up an en route snack!
Congratulations to all and thanks to the supporting and assessing staff.
