Design & Technology students show impressive woodwork skills

Years 7 and 8 students at Eggar’s School spent last term using their woodwork skills to make a stylish ‘Rennie Mackintosh’ chair.  The Design & Technology department have been running an extra-curricular Furniture Creation club where students learn traditional skills and apply them to make items of furniture.  Mr Waite, ‘Curriculum Leader for Design & Technology explains, ‘This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to be involved in the design and production of classic styled furniture.  The students have picked up these traditional skills very quickly and I am very proud of what they have achieved’.

The Furniture Creation club is one of many exciting and varied clubs that are part of the school’s ‘Eggar’s Experience’.  Students can get involved with many activities including pet therapy, cooking, origami, gardening, animation, web design, lecture club and many more.
