All the world's a stage ...

Year 9 inspirational trip to the Globe

At the end of the Summer Term,  Year 9 students had the opportunity to visit the Globe Theatre, London. The Globe as we know it today, stands a few hundred yards from its original site. The rebuilding of this iconic building stems from the founding of the Shakespeare's Globe Trust by the pioneering American actor and director Sam Wanamaker.

For our students, the day involved a tour of the theatre and participation in active workshops.

Here is Greg Carter and Tom Stratton-Brown’s roundup of their visit.

On July 18  half of Year 9 went to the Globe theatre with the other half visiting the following day. We started off the day with a tour of the Globe and got the chance to see their actors rehearsing and also listened to lots of interest facts.

Afterwards we got involved in a workshop on how Shakespeare uses language. There were acting games which were used as part of a play. Before we had to return back to school there was time to sit in the sun by the Thames to eat our lunch.”
